He completed a hospital-based General Practice Residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and practiced general dentistry in the Navy for six years before pursuing his specialty training in periodontics and dental implant surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina where he obtained his Certificate in Periodontics and Masters in Health Sciences with honors. Dr. Aguila has a unique perspective compared to most surgeons in that he practiced comprehensive general dentistry before specializing in periodontics and implant surgery. He resigned his commission and was honorably discharged in order to pursue his life long goal of being in private practice and being close to his parents and siblings who are all highly successful professionals in Jacksonville. After the Navy, he worked for two years as an associate Periodontist at a prominent periodontal and implant surgery practice before deciding to open up his own practice in Jacksonville in June 2010.
Dr. Aguila is Board Certified Periodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is certified in Conscious Sedation by the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He practices the full scope of periodontics and implant dentistry.

They are proud parents of two beautiful children, Ashley and Alex.
